With the covid pandemic ongoing The Cultch is now doing most of their performances virtually where guests sit in the comfort of their own home. This was my first time viewing a local theatre’s live performance from home. I have always loved listening to Veda Hille perform her music and theatrical works.
This was a one woman show where Veda told a personal story as a commentary to the music she was playing on the piano. Started off with her playing Bach, she talked about her trip to Scotland. She played and talked about Scottish frogs.
She posted a photo that she saw in the American Folk Art Museum in New York that showed depicted little volcanos pictured around the circumference of the painting. She sang a song about recovery and then built Mount St Hille (a mini volcano and placed it on the piano).
This was a wonderful musical self-portrait on love, death and survival.
