With Latin American Heritage Month Festival happening this month, they will be presenting some free family-friendly events taking place at Granville Island, 1500 Old Bridge Street (covered lot):

Oct 29 at 1pm: How to Dance Capoeira
Oct 29 at 2:30pm: How to Dance Afro Zumba & Macuele
Oct 30 at 1pm: How to Become La Catrina (Mexico’s iconic ‘lady of death’)
Oct 30 at 2:30pm: How to Dance Salsa

1:30 to 2:30pm: How to Decorate Calaveritas de Azucar (decorative skulls made with sugar)
3 to 4pm: How to Make Papel Picado (tissue paper crafts)
4:30 to 5:30pm: Puppet Show ‘Dia de Los Muertos’
6 to 7pm: Ice Painting Skulls (painting with dry ice)
Also, from 6:30 to 10pm, a video mapping projection will explain the Day of the Dead tradition. Visitors are welcome to complete this form and add names of their dearly departed: https://bit.ly/3ShKkpR.
The two days will feature food vendors (Mexican snacks, Venezuelan street food, Colombian and Peruvian cuisine, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options), a beer garden, and live music with performers from Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and more!
