Fashion Designer - Wilber Tellez

A couple of weeks ago I attended some of the Fashion Shows as part of Vancouver Fashion Week that is recognized as a global platform for established and upcoming designers. Since its debut in 2000, Vancouver Fashion Week has become a much sought-after event for Canadian and International designers. VFW has gained a respectable reputation from its ability to showcase the fashion industry and accommodate multicultural designers successfully. Hailed as the West Coast’s most prestigious industry event, Vancouver Fashion Week is committed to fostering the growth of designers and celebrating the fashion industry.

One of the collections that caught my eye was that of Wilber Tellez , I spoke to Wilber at the after party about his outstanding collection of womens wear and the beautiful designs. He told me that he created the collection as especially for the Vancouver Fashion Week show and that no retailers are carrying his collection yet, this I was surprised to hear, he is so talented and I am sure his clothes would sell well at retail.

Wilber Tellez started his dream of becoming a designer at the age of 14 when he was accepted into the Denver School of the Arts. While attending school he majored in costume design and construction. After four years of stagecraft and design Wilber was contracted to work for the international resort Club Med. At 18, Wilber was one of the youngest costume designers working for Club Med. His successful three year collaboration with the company involved designing, constructing and managing 22 new shows in the Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Guadeloupe, Ixtapa, Mexico and Cancun. He currently resides in Vancouver earning a degree Fashion Design.
