I attended this musical and hilarious production a few nights ago with a brilliant performance by Andy Toth playing the role of Tracy’s mother, Edna Turnblad. Jennie Neumann plays Tracy Turnblad with a stellar performance one that goes so well with Andy Toth as well as the rest of the cast.

The Big Fat Musical Comedy Hit. Amidst the doo-wop and beehives of ‘60s Baltimore, pleasantly plump Tracy Turnblad won’t let popular Amber Von Tussle squash her dream of dancing on a local TV teen variety show. Can a girl with big ideas (and really big hair!) change the world…and win the heart of dreamy Link Larkin? Welcome to the ‘60s!

Based on the 1988 John Waters film of the same name and the Broadway musical adaptation, Hairspray tells the musical story of Tracy Turnblad(Jennie Neumann), the pleasantly plump high schooler who wins a spot on Baltimore’s teen dance show, where she decides to use her newfound popularity to move the program toward racial integration.
