It was a beautiful and deeply thoughtful theatrical experience, seamlessly blending storytelling and song.
Inherited Stories and the Songs They Carry
Conceived by JUNO-nominated singer-songwriter Adrian Glynn McMorran, You’re Just a Place That I Know is a compelling theatrical concert inspired by his album of the same name. The work traces the journey of Adrian’s Ukrainian grandparents, who fled their homeland during World War II and rebuilt their lives in Montreal. Through intimate storytelling and evocative music, the production explores themes of ancestry, memory, and intergenerational connection.
The performance weaves together songs and personal reflections from Adrian alongside contributions from members of a diverse seven-piece band. A multigenerational, 20-person choir fills the stage, adding depth, resonance, and a powerful sense of collective voice to the narrative.
You’re Just a Place That I Know runs January 21–February 1, 2026, at the Olympic Village Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre. Get your tickets here.
