Richard Wolak

Richard Wolak has had a culinary interest since his childhood years when he took cooking classes, in his teen years he loved to cook, he then began writing about all things culinary in 1993 when he wrote his first book “Vancouver’s Best Espresso Spots” he has since written two other coffee, tea and cafe related books.  He has always loved to travel and has traveled to many areas around the world, learning about the different cultures and meeting passionate people. Besides his interests in culinary tasting esperiences and travel, he is also interested in branding, marketing and culture. Richard lives in Vancouver, Canada.

Laine Mervis

Laine Mervis is a corporate lawyer in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.  Laine has a love for stove-top espresso and cafe con leche, happy hour drinks and small plates, food truck fare, and other cheap, tasty and off the beaten path bites, wines and weekend getaways.  Other passions include politics (generally left-leaning), the LA Times, blue suits, and anything from the 50s and early / Camelot 60s.

Maria Carra

Maria Carra lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from where she reviews cafes and writes about food in Bs. As. Her passion for food stems from her early childhood cooking with her family.  Along with food and drink, Maria also loves design, and art.  One of her favorite cafe´s in Buenos Aires is the Cafe des Artes in the MALBA Museum of Latin American art in Buenos Aires. Her all time favorite snack is chorizo Spanish tortilla, preferably, her grandmother´s.

Tara Salman

Tara Salman is a writer, editor and translator based in Montreal, Canada. She is most passionate about two things in life: travelling and eating. She has successfully combined both as a food critic and travel writer, and has written myriad reviews of cafes in each country she visits for thecafeguide.com. She also contributes regularly to Tripadvisor.com with her hotel and restaurant reviews under the pseudonym  of “depgirl.” Tara was formerly an editor at Ulysses Travel Guides in Montreal.
