For the opening of its 2016/17 season, DanceHouse is pleased to announce the Canadian debut of Jessica Lang Dance (USA).
New York City’s Jessica Lang Dance has become one of the most respected and acclaimed American dance troupes for works that are both genuinely moving and visually arresting. Jessica Lang Dance make their Canadian debut in Vancouver with a program of mixed repertoire that includes their latest work—Thousand Yard Stare. This piece for nine dancers, set to Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 15, Opus 132, honours those affected by war.
Hailed “a master of visual composition” by Dance Magazine, the Bessie Award winning Lang seamlessly incorporates striking design elements and transforms classical ballet language into artfully crafted, emotionally engaging contemporary work. Lang challenges the collaborative process and excels in her unconventional collaborations.
