The Red Nocturnal

On November 25th choreographer Josh Beamish and his MOVE: the company presented their latest works to a packed house at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver. In this 2 part program, Lop Buri Dance company from Thailand presented the opening dance work in Thai traditional costumes, followed by Atonement which was choreographed by Josh Beamish for his MOVE: the company and saw an ensemble of dancers in this work.

In the 2nd half of the program, there was Les Oiseaux, followed by a Suite for Solo Cello, and to end the program was The Red Nocturnal, a contemporary tango ballet that was an elaborate powerful moving work featuring the full ensemble of dancers in beautiful costumes. It was presented in two formats, 6 or 18 players connect and disconnect through relentless physicality, sensuous phrasing, truncated pas de deux and razor sharp precision of movement.
