At the Vogue Theatre on June 30th, this threesome serious in their own right, performed complex layered pieces and turned out stellar tunes some with an American political reference and other melodic as they mixed rock, country and jazz. I have always wanted to see this band ever since they started in the mid-western United States, of course there are musical references of Nirvana and the Pixies as well as well Jazz.
Some of the fine songs they performed included: In Stitches; Next Step; and Dependencies. After a standing ovation and encore was our Canadian National Anthem well it was there version or style of you will to celebrate our national holiday the very next day.
The group has been together for the past 10 years—Ethan Iversan (piano), Reid Anderson (bass) and Dave King (drums); this was a return performance for them to the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
